Privacy policy

This page explains who processes the data collected by this site, for what purposes, on what legal basis, and what rights you have as a user.

Data controller

The data controller is Matteo Angeloni, author and editor of the independent editorial project I Love Montefiascone. For any privacy-related request, write to [email protected].

This site is not the official website of the Municipality of Montefiascone and is not operated, funded or approved by the municipal administration.

Purposes of processing

  • Delivering the site's editorial and travel content.
  • Technical operation of the pages (offline caching, homepage weather widget).
  • Aggregated visit statistics, only with your consent (see below).

Technical data processed

Like any website, the hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) automatically logs technical connection data needed to serve pages: IP address, browser user-agent, date and time of the request, requested page. The site does not require registration and does not collect personal data through forms: the only direct contact happens by email, at the user's initiative.

Google Analytics 4

For visit statistics we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited), activated only after your explicit consent. On first visit a banner appears with Accept and Decline options: until you accept, Google's script is not loaded and no analytics cookie is set. This is implemented via Google Consent Mode v2, with defaults set to “denied”.

Legal basis: processing for statistical purposes is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”), which you can decline or withdraw at any time without affecting your access to the site. Data transfer: Google Analytics may transfer technical data to Google LLC (United States). Google states it adheres to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and to standard contractual clauses for international data transfers. See Google's own privacy policy for details.

Third-party services

Some features load resources from external services, which may receive the device's IP address and technical connection data needed to serve the requested resource:

  • Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com): typefaces, on all pages.
  • Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com): weather data in the homepage info panel. No personal data is sent; the request uses fixed coordinates for Montefiascone.
  • Maps (Map page only): the Leaflet library from unpkg.com and map tiles from OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap and ArcGIS (server.arcgisonline.com).

These services are not operated by this site and have their own privacy policies, which we recommend consulting for details on their data processing.

Local storage

To reduce network requests, the homepage weather data may be temporarily stored in the browser's sessionStorage (a technical key valid for the browsing session). This is not a profiling cookie and is not shared with third parties. Your analytics consent choice is instead kept in localStorage until you change it.

Your rights

Under Articles 15-22 of the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access your data and obtain a copy of it;
  • request rectification if inaccurate or incomplete;
  • request erasure, within the limits provided by law;
  • restrict or object to processing;
  • withdraw your consent to analytics at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal;
  • lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority in your country of residence.
